About us . . .
Werner Implement can trace its roots to 1938, when John W. Werner began selling Minneapolis Moline tractors out of the Vermillion Elevator. Ten years later, in 1948, Werner formed a partnership with his nephew, Ernest Werner, and they constructed a 40' X 80' brick and block building and began selling and servicing Minneapolis Moline tractors, combines and other farm equipment.

In 1963, Ernest and his wife, Viola, bought out John W. Werner's share of the business. Three years later, in 1966, the couple added a 40' X 40' addition to the parts department. When their two sons, Mel and his younger brother Charlie, turned about 8 years old they began working side-by-side with their father, helping him repair whatever came through the doors. Over the years, Ernest's ability to fix just about anything became legendary. In fact, it became common knowledge that Ernest would rather fix a broken part than sell a new part.

In 1974, Ernest took on the White farm equipment line and Werner's sold both White and Oliver tractors for a short time. A year later, in 1975, Mel moved out of the back shop and began selling equipment, including two combines that summer. Charlie remained in the shop, quickly developing exceptional repair skills.

In 1977, the dealership took on the New Holland farm equipment line, a move that enabled the business to futher expand. Three years later, in 1980, Mel and Charlie bought into the business. A year later, in 1981, as business continued to grow, they added a 40' X 70' addition to the rear of the shop. Two years later, in 1982, Mel and Charlie bought their parents' share of the business.

In 2007, Werner's entered the fledgling internet marketplace, establishing their company's website -- wernerimplement.com -- and also placing new and used equipment in the Tractor House magazine and on the company's extensive website. In short order, business mushroomed. In 2014, Werner's was awarded the New Holland construction contract, giving farmers and construction companies a local source for new New Holland skidloaders, backhoes and compact wheel loaders and further boosting both the sales and service sides of the business. That winter, the company began construction of an 80' X 120' addition, complete with an overhead crane and large overhead doors to accommodate the ever-increasing volume and size of farm equipment. In addition, a tire expert was added to the staff, giving farmers the luxury of having their large and small tires repaired quickly and efficiently.

Over the past 76 years, Werner Implement has grown steadily as it developed a solid reputation for selling a wide assortment of high-quality, name-brand farm and construction equipment, always giving customers a fair price and excellent service. Werner's also offers a well-stocked parts department staffed by knowledgeable employees who can quickly locate the parts customers need to keep their equipment in tip-top shape.
